About Me

I’m Melvin Tercan, an engineer and entrepreneur originally from the Netherlands, now based in California. Currently, I serve as the Head of Engineering at Octagon AI, where I lead the development of cutting-edge AI solutions to drive investment research. My journey has taken me from building award-winning fintech products in the Netherlands to growing and leading engineering teams in Silicon Valley at companies like Wag.

In addition to my professional work, I create personal side projects that explore the potential of generative AI in e-commerce. One example is Instabooks AI, a tool that generates entire 200+ page books on any topic, making complex topics accessible and easy to understand. This project highlights how agentic systems can transform traditional workflows into scalable, automated solutions.
